“From the front lines of World War II through more than five decades of service in Congress, Senator Inouye led a remarkable American life. He was a Senator in the truest sense – a statesman who always represented the interests of his fellow Hawaiians; a hard worker who mastered the art of legislating; and a gifted politician who remained beloved by his constituents until the very end. Senator Inouye will long be remembered for his many contributions to his state and to our nation, and I will miss him.”
