Whitehouse Statement on Jury Finding Trump Guilty on All Felony Counts

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Courts Subcommittee, today issued the following statement after a jury found former President Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records in order to conceal a hush money payment to a porn star in an illegal conspiracy to influence the outcome of the 2016 election:

“An individual who has been convicted of 34 felony counts and shows zero respect for the rule of law is not fit to lead the greatest nation in the world.

“It’s only in honest courtrooms that the former president has been unable to lie and bully his way out of trouble.  Americans trust juries for good reason.”
