Whitehouse Praises Ketanji Brown Jackson on Exemplary Performance in Confirmation Hearings

‘Jackson set a new bar for patience, courtesy, and dignity from a Supreme Court nominee’

Washington, DC – At the close of Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson today, senior Senate Judiciary Committee member Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) released the following statement:

“I am proud to have taken part in considering Judge Jackson’s historic nomination. Judge Jackson set a new bar for patience, courtesy, and dignity from a Supreme Court nominee coming before the Judiciary Committee. Rhode Islander and Reagan First Circuit appointee Judge Bruce Selya was right: Judge Jackson offers intelligence, experience, and judicial temperament. All of those qualities were on display this week, even in the face of cynical, poisonous attacks by Republican presidential hopefuls – attacks that sent a terrible message about the Senate.

“I am grateful to Senator Booker for bringing us all back from the depths of those Republican attacks. He helped us reclaim our moral footing, from which I hope we can build in the days ahead.”
