Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse released the following statement today regarding news that the Rhode Island start-up accelerator Betaspring has been selected to participate in the Obama Administration’s Startup America program:
“Rhode Island has a long tradition of innovation dating back to Slater Mill and the birth of the Industrial Revolution. Today’s announcement that Betaspring will be among the programs partnering with the White House to boost American entrepreneurship shows that our state can continue to be a leader as we work to create the jobs of the 21st century economy.”
The Startup America program is a White House initiative to celebrate, inspire, and accelerate high-growth entrepreneurship throughout the nation.
Senator Whitehouse met with representatives from Betaspring and other Knowledge District businesses last week to discuss job growth in Rhode Island.
