Providence, RI – Rhode Island received $9.68 million from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Hardest Hit Fund program to help protect homeowners from foreclosure and assist communities still recovering from the housing crisis. U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, who voted in favor of the legislation that authorized this funding and helped convince the Treasury Department to assist homeowners and communities in states like Rhode Island, released the following statement on the award:
“While our economy has greatly improved from the depths of the Great Recession, too many Rhode Island families are still struggling to keep their homes. I was proud to work with my fellow members of the Rhode Island delegation to pass the bill creating the Hardest Hit Fund, which has helped over 3,300 Rhode Island families to date. I’m happy to see this additional federal grant building on that success.”
