Providence, RI – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, released the following statement on Judge Aileen Cannon’s decision to dismiss the case regarding former President Donald Trump’s mishandling of classified documents:
“Foul winds are blowing. This extreme decision goes against settled precedent and appears to be more MAGA than law. Even assuming that the right-wing justices of the Supreme Court do not bow in complete fealty to Donald Trump, today’s development will allow him to run out the clock on another avenue of legal accountability.”
