Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) will travel this week to Sea Island, GA, to take part in the American Enterprise Institute’s (AEI) annual World Forum. The event is the conservative think tank’s yearly policy conference, bringing together policymakers, business executives, and scholars from the U.S. and around the world for off-the-record discussions on emerging issues in politics, economics, and foreign policy. Whitehouse will join two bipartisan panels of leading economists, academics, and Members of Congress to discuss the promise of health care delivery system reform, as well as the market distortions created by the economy-wide costs of carbon dioxide pollution from fossil fuels.
“Fair and efficient markets have always been the engine of broadly shared opportunity and prosperity in America,” said Whitehouse. “This is especially true for our health care and energy markets, where the stakes could not be higher. I expect my views on these issues will differ greatly with those of the leaders at AEI , but I look forward to a forthright discussion.”
The AEI World Forum was established by former President and AEI Distinguished Fellow Gerald Ford in 1982 to enrich discourse among world leaders and explore crucial public policy issues in an informal setting.
